THIS year’s Liphook Carnival Walk was a big success, say organisers.
Forty-one walkers turned up for the walk and helped raise £430 for the carnival.
The highest sponsored walker was Katie Land with £150, and all proceeds from the day went towards helping with the running costs of the carnival.
All entrants had the option to choose which route they wanted to walk out of three circular routes. The three routes were approximately four-and-a-half, nine and 10 miles, and they all started and finished at the Deer’s Hut pub.
Rob Harris-Dibben, who organises the Liphook Carnival Walk with his wife, Alison, said: “The medium nine-mile and long 10-mile routes headed towards Wardley Hangar and returned via Chapel Common.
“The short four-and-a-half mile route encompassed footpaths close to the Liphook Golf Club and returned via Weavers Down.”
The walk is a vital fundraiser for the carnival and Rob is pleased with how it went.
“The Liphook Carnival Walk went well,” he said.
“We were blessed with a lovely sunny day, in sharp contrast to the pouring rain the day before. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.”
Rob was full of praise for the hospitality provided by the Deer’s Hut pub on the day, and he also thanked everyone for supporting the walk.
Rob said: “Thanks to the team of marshals, back markers, Christina, St John Ambulance and last but not least the Deer’s Hut for providing the bacon butties and coffee at the start and the prize for the highest sponsored walker.”
This year’s Liphook Carnival will take place on Saturday, October 29. Anyone who would like more information on the carnival should visit the website at: www.liphookcarnival.org.uk
