GRAYSHOTT Folk Club returns on Saturday (September 30), at 7.30pm, with a brand new season, choc full of wonderful and varied music after their summer break.

Their special guests that night will be a five-piece traditional Irish/Celtic folk band called Réalta, who are on tour from Belfast in Northern Ireland.

Instrumentally, they bring to mind both The Bothy Band and Planxty and they are described by Irish Music Magazine as “a full bodied pipe and whistle extravaganza.”

Réalta make full use of the intricate melodies and driving rhythms that make Irish music so much loved throughout the world. Performing on dueling uilleann pipes, whistles, bodhrán, guitar, bouzouki, double bass and vocals, this award-winning band will lead the listener on a journey of music and song through the full range of the Irish tradition.

Also making an appearance that night will be Zak Hobbs. Zak is a young guitarist, with a distinguished pedigree.

The gig is being staged at Grayshott Village Hall in Headley Road. Adult tickets cost £15 and for children under-16 they are £8.

Tickets are available from Grayshott Post Office, Grayshott Wine Centre and Haslemere Bookshop or direct from Des O’Byrne on 01428 607096.
