Environmental activists from the Just Stop Oil campaign group aimed at combating climate change are hosting an informative meeting in the Avenue Pavilion.
A spokesman said: “Over 4 days in the July UK heatwave, temperatures reached 40°C and the ONS reported that 1,012 people likely died as a result.
“Our government is licensing over 100 new oil and gas drilling sites.
“Instead, they should be investing in renewable energy, which is currently much cheaper.
“There have been 27 international COP meetings and they haven’t stopped climate collapse. But together, we can.
“Come and hear local people talk about the climate crisis, and how we can act now.”
The free talk is at 7pm on Thursday, December 15.
