WHILE the weather over the Bank Holiday weekend was generally grey and gloomy, colour could be found in abundance at Hollycombe Steam in the Country.
The bluebells in the woodland gardens and alongside the quarry railway were in full flower, and the rhododendrons and azaleas were in bloom too.
Inside Hollycombe’s Bioscope some of the earliest-known Victorian ‘Magic Lantern Shows’ were showcased. The team responsible for the displays – Reg Bosley, Suzanne Higgins, Valmai Goodyear, Bryan Creer and Rene and Alan Marriott – were dressed in Victorian clothing and sang songs against a backdrop of images.
“It’s great fun playing to full houses,” said Reg.
