COMMUNITY First and East Hampshire District Council are reminding people who benefit from the work of volunteers that the nomination deadline for their volunteering awards is nearing.
Community First, of Tilmore Road in Petersfield, provides volunteers, and volunteer training and support, to voluntary and community groups.
The charity is appealing for people to come forward with nominations across nominations in six categories by October 17.
And for the first time in the annual awards, businesses are being encouraged to put forward employees who also volunteer.
The categories are: young volunteer, business team of the year, team of the year, special commendation, unsung hero and lifetime achievement .
Community First chairman Tim Houghton said: “We are committed to creating a strong, influential and thriving voluntary sector because we know the difference it makes to people’s lives.
“So we are celebrating volunteers from across East Hampshire, and these awards recognise the time and energy they give to organisations in the district.
“This is an opportunity to celebrate the dedication and enthusiasm of volunteers who make a difference to the lives of many residents.
“This year businesses are also encouraged to nominate staff members who volunteer in the Business Team of the Year category.”
Any group, or organisation, operating in the voluntary sector can make nominations, which must be with Community First by 5pm on Tuesday, October 17.
Those chosen will be invited to an awards evening in Petersfield Festival Hall on November 29, from 5pm.
