LIFE on Mars will be the subject of the latest talk to be enjoyed by members and guests of the Hampshire Astronomical Group (HAG).
Based at the Portsmouth Water Reservoir off Hinton Ampner Lane, HAG regularly hosts scientific talks and education evenings in Clanfield.
But the only way of searching for evidence of life on Mars is to go there – a space trek of 34 million miles.
The latest attempt is called ExoMars – Exobiology on Mars – a two-part astrobiology project which is a joint mission of the European Space Agency and the Russian space agency Roscosmos.
On December 13 John Chinner, who works for Airbus, will give a talk entitled ‘ExoMars Rover Mission’ – and will show the audience a scale model of the Rover, called Yuri.
Mars, known as the ‘red planet,’ is believed to have the best conditions of the other seven planets in the solar system to support life.
The talk will be held at Clanfield Memorial Hall in South Lane.
Doors open at 7.30pm and the talk starts at 7.45pm. Tickets are available on the door and the cost is £3 for non-members.
