EAST Hampshire is starting to return to normal after the visits of The Beast From The East and Storm Emma over the last week.
Temperatures today across the district are above freezing for the first time since the beginning of the week, with Thursday and Friday’s heavy snowfall starting to slowly melt away.
South Western Railway stopped all services on their network at 8pm last night due to the severe weather conditions, which had seen some passengers stuck on trains overnight on Thursday going into Friday in the New Forest area and on the line west of Southampton.
Passengers looking to travel to stations beyond Bournemouth in the Weymouth direction are still being advised not to travel today.
People using services in East Hampshire are now having to contend with engineering work this weekend in the Havant and Portsmouth areas.
Today (Saturday) and tomorrow a replacement bus service will be replacing train services between Petersfield and Portsmouth Harbour.

There are no major problems reported on the district’s main roads, with traffic moving freely on all major routes across the south.
Motorists will need to take care on side roads and country lanes but the situation is continually improving on these roads as snow and ice is melting away as daytime temperatures continue to steadily climb.
