Light in the darkness at Churcher’s College carol service

THERE was a magical start to the annual carol service held by Churcher’s College at St Peter’s Church, Petersfield.

The church was wrapped in darkness as members of the choir processed in with candles singing an emotive Oh Come, all ye faithful, arranged by the school’s director of music, Helen Purchase.

The service has long been a highlight on the school calendar and features more than 130 pupils in the choir. Governors, former pupils and staff members attend.

There were readings from students throughout the school including the Captains of College Owen Tutt and Francesca Hussell, along with the headteacher Simon Williams.

The service was led by the school chaplains, Rev Will Hughes and Rev Richard Saunders.
