DESPITE the downpour this year’s Liphook Carnival was a success, say organisers.
The crowds turned out to see the vast array of floats and enjoy the annual event.
Liphook Carnival committee chairman Karen Feeney said: “Despite the downpour, the Liphook people came through.
“The community spirit was great and I would like to say a big thank-you to everyone who came and everyone who took part in the carnival.
“I would also like to thank our sponsors and the carnival committee, who all work very hard.”
Saurday started with the children’s fancy dress competition, which took place at Liphook Junior School.
Bournemouth Carnival Band provided the entertainment with their performance in the Square, and Carnival Queen Jodie Molesworth was crowned in the Square.
The procession then moved off and returned through the Square before the traditional bonfire and firework display was held at Radford Park.
Karen said: “There was a lovely atmosphere for the children’s fancy dress competition, which went well.
“Carnival Queen Jodie Molesworth was lovely. She looked beautiful and she had a great night.”
All of the money raised at this year’s carnival will be presented to various local groups and good causes in February.
