THE LIPHOOK Carnival was a big success, say organisers.

The crowds turned out to see the vast array of floats and enjoy the annual event on Saturday.

Liphook Carnival committee chairman Karen Feeney said: “We were delighted with the carnival on Saturday night.

“The fireworks were dazzling and much appreciated by all that walked down to Radford Park.

“I have heard already that lots of local groups are talking about taking part next year which has filled us with optimism that next year, the 115th carnival, will be the best for many years.”

Karen also thanked everyone who helped with this year’s carnival.

She said: “I would like to thank the marshals, including the Hampshire Search and Rescue team, who have now helped us for the last two years.

“I would like to express enormous thanks to Paul Wright from Genesis Motors who spent so much time fixing up our Queen’s Float this year, and Altis for providing us with a generator along with various other tools to help the bonfire crew.

“I would also like to thank our sponsors Keats, Homes Estate Agents and Clarke Gammon Wellers, and obviously the whole committee for working so hard not only on the night but during the year with our fundraising and sometimes sheer hard physical work to get the carnival off the ground.

“Most of all, I would like to thank all those that came along and enjoyed the night and all those that take part.

“Without you we wouldn’t have a carnival.”
