LIPHOOK’S Methodist Amateur Dramatic Company and the Love to Sing Choir are reuniting on the stage once more.

The two groups are working together to bring a Japanese influence to Liphook when they return to the stage with Gilbert and Sullivan’s operetta The Mikado.

Following their successful two sold out performances of The Pirates of Penzance last year, both companies are combining their talents to perform another of Gilbert and Sullivan’s comedic operas.

This cantata-style adaptation of this operetta, written by Vanessa K Breach, will aim to enthral audiences with another version of the highly talented writings of Gilbert and Sullivan.

Carefully edited and condensed, this production is aimed at those who are new to Gilbert and Sullivan and also those who are already familiar with the show.

All the favourite choruses and solos are still very much in evidence in this tale of love. Nanki Poo loves Yum-Yum, only one snag, she is betrothed to Ko-Ko the new Lord High Executioner – to save his own head from the block he needs to find another to replace him and quickly.

This comic operetta aims to take people on a journey of love, intrigue and forbidden flirting.

Performances are tonight (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday), from 7pm at the Millennium Centre, Liphook, with light refreshments included in the ticket price of £10.

Liphook’s Methodist Amateur Dramatic Company and the Love to Sing Choir will also be combining for an outdoor performance of the production entitled The Mikado in the Garden.

Teaming up with the Links Tavern in Liphook, audiences will have the opportunity to watch the show while enjoying supper or a drink in the surroundings of the pub’s garden.

This performance will take place on Sunday at 7.30pm.
