Stone wall (and road) building allowed for excellent team work and then a real-life archaeological dig gave the children an understanding of sources of evidence and why they are important.
The children took part in practical activities in the afternoon. Silver jewellery making and clay pottery kept all 39 children and five escorting adults fully occupied, and they set off back to school with boxes of pots and silver rings on their fingers.
