A YEAR 5 pupil at Churcher’s College Junior School (CCJS) walked five kilometres as part of the memory walk at Painshill Park, Surrey.
Wesley Mercer was keen to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association as part of the Guild Award initiative run at CCJS. This is a scheme in which children are encouraged to help others through charitable initiatives as well as setting themselves targets with physical activities and skills. Wesley said he was inspired by his father who had run the London Marathon and so he took on the challenge and completed the walk.
Wesley raised £200 and hopes to continue with fundraising for the same charity next year. His next aim is to do a longer walk or a run in aid of the Alzheimer’s Association.
