THE INFANTS of Churcher’s College Junior School gave a spectacular performance at their annual concert.

There were accomplished solos from Charlie Williams, Noah Hadley, Felix Hambly, Louie Carson, Imogen Murphy, Katie Fairbrass, Daniel Davies, Oli Craven and Tatym Monk – some performing for the very first time. The Class 2 recorder group played to a rousing drum beat in Indian Warrior and finished with Open the C-A-G-E, a feat in navigating a complicated piece. The drummers all received raucous applause for their impeccable timing and ‘Rock n’ Roll’ attitudes of Freddie Taylor, Teddy Giffin and Oli Craven.

Class 1 did a good job of sharing the work they had done on the song Shake My Sillies and were keen to share their actions and facial expressions with the audience. Class 2 showed how they had mastered singing in a three-part round to the tongue-twister of a song Popocatepetl is a Big Volcano. The concert finished in a performance of the traditional Maori song Epo I tai tai e, which the children eagerly taught to the audience so that everyone could be involved in the finale. Older brothers and sisters of the performers came on stage to show their support and good fun was had, filling the studio with a confident and enjoyable sound.
