LIPHOOK University of the Third Age (U3A) held its annual open day earlier this month.
The purpose of the day was to promote the Liphook branch of the nationwide U3A organisation and what it can offer.
Nearly all the 40-plus groups, ranging from antiques and collectables, flower arranging, history, languages, outdoor activities like boules, croquet and walking, and trips out to places of interest and theatre visits, were represented this year.
The doors opened at 2pm and from then until 4pm there was a steady stream of people visiting the various groups to learn more about how they operate and exactly what they get up to.
Many of these were existing members of the Liphook branch, but there were also visitors attending to find out just what the U3A is all about, several of whom, liked what they saw and decided to sign up to join straight away.
There were free refreshments on offer in the Canada Room, with tea, coffee and homemade cakes, which proved very popular, and had John Horner and his helpers rushed off their feet.
It was a successful afternoon with many members adding membership of a new group or two to keep them active in the coming year.
Liphook U3A has its monthly meetings at 2pm on the first Monday of the month, except July and August.
These take place in the Millennium Hall and a variety of interesting speakers are followed by tea, coffee and biscuits.
The various interest groups meet in a variety of venues.
