A FORMER Liphook woman has hiked to the top of Brown Willy, which is the highest point in Cornwall, to raise money for the PBC Foundation.

Jo Elliott lived in Liphook for 31 years before moving to Cornwall earlier this year.

During her time in Liphook Jo had been the Hampshire and West Sussex volunteer for the PBC Foundation.

PBC is a long-term, auto-immune condition which affects the liver. In simple terms, the body thinks that the bile ducts within the liver are foreign objects and tries to destroy the lining to these ducts.

A small group of volunteers took part in the challenge, which was part of this year’s PBC Awareness Day; the foundation offers support and advice to those suffering with PBC.

Jo said: “I lived in Liphook for 31 years and I worked for the architect Adrian Bird.

“The hike was quite difficult and we couldn’t leave people behind out there on Bodmin Moor.

“It’s the first challenge like that I have done and it was very satisfying to do it as we had to help each other out with the boulders.

“It took us four hours in all to do it, and we were lucky it was a lovely sunny day.

“We raised £230 for the PBC Foundation, and people can still donate to our Just Giving page.”
