LISS Archaeological Group (LAG) has completed its month-long autumn dig at Colemore.

The dig started on Friday, September 16, and finished on Monday.

LAG publicity officer Alan Horgan said: “One of our major finds this month was an iron furnace.

“The Scouts came to visit us with Hampshire County Council archaeologist David Hopkins, and we also had some school visits.

“The schoolchildren enjoyed David Quick’s drone, which David used to get an aerial view of the trenches.

“We had a number of visitors to the dig this year, including David Grist who came from Birmingham to take part in the dig.

“We had some interesting finds, and they need to be processed. We have already sent some items away for a professional dating process.

“The next stage is to identify and mark all the finds from this season.”
