LISS businessman Keith Budden is running an online course on data protection – which is a hot topic with an impending change in the national law.
A small business owner himself, Keith has spent many months researching the new General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) which comes into effect tomorrow (Friday).
From a vast array of published information, Keith has pulled together a new online training course.
The price for the online course is £97, which includes webinars, a work-book, and six months of support from Keith, via access to a closed Facebook group.
The course takes the form of eight pre-recorded webinars, comprising slides and videos, each module being 20 minutes long. They cover issues such as questions that need to be asked to make sure documentation is correct, gaining consent, which data protection fee to pay and the right to be forgotten.
The course is aimed at directors, managers and administrators of small and medium-sized enterprises and micro-businesses, from one to 250 people.
Keith said: “I want to educate people. The main thing is that people can’t afford to do nothing. For those who say ‘It doesn’t really affect me’, well it does. We all want our data to be safe.
“Senior directors do need to listen to at least the first module. This is not just a job for HR, IT or quality people; it is important that the whole company understands the impact of GDPR legislation. Companies need to build this into their staff induction programme.”
People can still take the course after the new law comes into effect tomorrow (Friday).
Keith added: “People need to show they plan to be compliant with the new law. So they can still do this course after the law has come into effect.”
