AT LISS Horticultural Society’s March meeting, Hinton Ampner head gardener John Wood spoke about his work at the garden.
He went through the history of the house and the garden and explained with an illustrated presentation how the garden and landscape had been created and developed and the changes made over the years. He also spoke of the importance of the volunteers in the house and the garden.
The spring show and garden quiz will be held tonight (Tuesday) at 7.30pm. Among the many exhibits on display, members will be showing the daffodils they have grown from the bulbs given to them last September. The public can pop in to see the wonderful array of daffodils and spring flowers which will be on display.
At 7.30pm on Tuesday, May 3, the speaker is the owner of Knoll Gardens in Wimborne, Mark Lucas. He is an ornamental grass specialist and has won many gold medals at Chelsea. The plant sale will be on Saturday, May 14, in the Whistle Stop car park at 9am.
