LISS Horticultural Society’s spring flower show at the Triangle was well attended.

There were slightly fewer daffodil exhibits in the individual classes compared with last year but there were 42 pots of daffodils on display grown from the bulbs given to members last autumn.

There were also a lot more tulips than last year, and some beautiful flowering shrubs and spring flowers.

The variety and quality of all the 174 exhibits of flowers and plants was excellent.

The judge, Mark Ward, said the show was very impressive and of a high standard, and he was amazed at the number of exhibits on display.

The main prize winner was Peter Catt, who won the Spring Cup for the most points overall, the prize for the most points in the daffodil section and the best daffodils in show class.

Charmian Porton won the Eric Cook Cup for the best pot of daffodils grown from bulbs given to the members last autumn. There were 42 exhibits in this class.

Jenny Hall won the prize for the most points in classes 18 to 34. Marie Martin won the best other exhibit with a beautiful amaryllis, and Jane Green won the quiz.
