LISS Horticultural Society’s spring flower show at the Triangle Centre was well attended.

For the first time the show was held on a Sunday, instead of on a Tuesday evening.

There were 186 exhibits of flowers and plants, including 64 daffodil entries, which were ten more than last year, in the individual classes. There was only one pot of tulips, but 14 camellias and 12 vases of hellebores. The judge, Mark Ward, said the show was very impressive and of a high standard, and he was amazed at the number of exhibits on display.

The main prize winner was society president Peter Catt, who won the Spring Cup for most points overall and the prize for most points in both sections. Jenny Hall came second in the most points overall section.

Steve Amos won the Eric Cook Cup for the best pot of daffodils grown from bulbs given to the members last autumn – there were 37 exhibits in this class. Pam Bush won the best daffodil exhibit with a single double daffodil.

Members and visitors bought tea and homemade cake with the profits going to Liss Unites People in Need.
