LISS is in full bloom thanks to the hard work of a number of volunteers who have planted hanging baskets in the village.
Hanging baskets have been planted in the village centre and by the Triangle Centre.
The floral displays were planted after Liss Parish Council received a £500 grant from East Hampshire district councillor for Liss, Mike Kendall, and a £500 grant from East Hampshire district councillor for Liss, Laetitia Pienaar, towards providing additional planters to supplement existing shrubs and hanging baskets in the village.
Among the Liss in Bloom volunteers who planted the hanging baskets are Liss Parish Councillor Sue Halstead, Sue Jordan, Charmian Porton, Rosemary Blanchard, Jenny Hall, Angie Blowman, John Norris, Ann Owen, Margaret Effenburg and Michael Jarmin.
The plants will need to be watered and maintained.
Liss in Bloom volunteers have been working for a couple of years to improve the general appearance and upkeep of the village, with residents and business owners benefitting from a blooming environment.
Previously the East Hampshire Community Rail Partnership had funded planting around Liss Railway Station.
Liss in Bloom volunteer Sue Jordan said: “We are hoping to do even more for the village next year, subject to funds.
“We would be delighted to hear from any local businesses who would like to support us.”
Volunteers are also being sought to keep Liss blooming going forward.
Anyone who is interested in becoming a Liss in Bloom volunteer, or donating money to the Liss in Bloom project, should call the Liss Parish Council office on 01730 892823 and speak to administrative officer Frances Cook for further information.
