LISS Community Association’s first open garden event in the village on Sunday was a big success, say organisers.

Nineteen gardens were open across the village and visitors were able to hop on and off a dedicated shuttle bus, and the Triangle Centre was open and served refreshments.

Liss Triangle Centre manager Karen Feeney said: “We had 275 visitors across the 19 gardens and it was very busy.

“We were busy in the cafe selling cakes, scones, tea and sandwiches, and all of the volunteers did a sterling job.

“We had a Pimm’s tent and the weather held out and we’ve had excellent feedback.

“I’d like to thank Linda Li-Davies and her events team for putting the whole event together, everyone who opened gardens for us, and Wheel Drive for transporting people to the gardens.

“We don’t have an amount raised yet but the money we have raised will go towards the coffee bar modifications.”
