THE NEW pavilion which is being built in Liss is starting to take shape.

Construction of the pavilion on West Liss Recreation Ground began in July and it has reached a crucial stage in its construction.

The pavilion is replacing an old dilapidated sports pavilion and a Scout hut which had reached the end of their lives.

As well as providing changing rooms for sports participants and space for Liss Scouts, there will be a community hall, kitchen and other facilities which will provide a new venue for the people of Liss to use.

Liss Parish Council chairman Roger Hargreaves said: “Work on the pavilion has now reached the point where the roof supports and trusses are going in and everyone can now see the size and shape of the building.

“I have no doubt we will meet our target to complete the building by spring 2019 and it will be a magnificent addition to community facilities in Liss.”

With construction steaming ahead at a fast pace, Liss Parish Council is now hoping to hear from people who are interested in using the pavilion when it is completed.

“We can now look ahead to using the building,” added Cllr Hargreaves.

“Some groups, such as the Scouts, are already signed up or have made enquiries, but we would very much like to hear from other organisations and individuals who might be interested in using the facilities of the pavilion when it opens.”

Anyone who wants to know more about the new pavilion, or who would like to express an interest in using the facilities, should contact Liss Parish Council clerk Sarah Smith by e-mailing [email protected] or calling Sarah on 01730 892823.
