A cool Kat from Liss is bringing her wheels of steel to Petersfield skatepark in support of stricken families in Gaza.
Wheelchair skater Kat Gray will roll up to Love Lane this Sunday for a sponsored skate in aid of Medical Aid for Palestinians.
The 17-year-old will spend the day making ‘drop-ins’ – dropping down the ramps in her chair – with an accompanying cake sale being held to boost the teen’s fundraising drive.
Kat has cerebral palsy and prefers using a wheelchair to skate and get around as walking can cause pain and fatigue.
The fundraiser is passionate about wheelchair skating but is equally keen to aid the evacuation of critically ill and injured children out of Gaza as its bombardment continues.
Kat said: “This is important to me because there’s a lot of information available about what’s happening out there and how children are being affected.
“This is an issue that is very close to my heart as I have spoken to different families who are on the ground in Rafah.
“They are all experiencing such difficult times, and I decided I want to do something to help, as these people are deserving of safety, happiness and support. That’s why I am using my passion, which is wheelchair skating, to try and raise the money.”
Proceeds from the sponsored skate will help Medical Aid for Palestinians to provide aid and treatment for suffering Gazans.
