EAST Hampshire MP Damian Hinds has officially opened the extension to the coffee bar at the Triangle Centre.

Liss parish councillors, and district and county councillors for the village, also attended the opening, as well as some of the regular coffee bar customers.

When opening the extension, Mr Hinds made reference to Liss winning the Hampshire Village of the Year competition, and he praised the community spirit in Liss.

Mr Hinds said: “Can I just say how wonderful it is to be in the award-winning village of Liss and I congratulate everybody here for what you do.

“It’s an amazing, thriving, village community, and the Triangle Centre is absolutely at the heart of it, not only as a community hub, but also what you do in raising money for local charities and everything else.”

Triangle Centre chairman of trustees Charmian Porton thanked those who helped make the extension happen.

The coffee bar is managed by Janet Crates, and she is delighted with the extension.

“It’s invaluable really,” said Janet.

“Our core customer size had grown to such an extent that we were short of space.

“We offer homemade cakes and good quality coffee at sensible prices.

“The coffee bar is the beating heart in the Triangle, and people can come here to have a chat and meet their friends.

“We’re all volunteers and we’re open six days a week.

“We also help a charity once a month, on the third Saturday of the month, and all the proceeds from that day go to that month’s chosen charity.”

The coffee bar is open from 9.30am to noon, Monday to Saturday.
