LAST year’s winners of Hampshire Village of the Year – Liss – hosted this year’s awards presentation evening.

Liss had the honour of hosting 2018 event after being crowned the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Village of the Year at the 2017 awards evening which was held at Lyndhurst Community Centre.

Attendees also had the chance to take part in an optional bus tour of Liss before the awards event was held at the Triangle Centre.

Nearly 70 people attended the event, and around a dozen or so went on the optional bus tour of Liss prior to the awards ceremony.

The Triangle Centre hosted the event on behalf of Liss Parish Council.

The awards were presented by acting Hampshire Association of Local Councils (HALC) chief executive Dawn Hamblet.

The ceremony started with a minute’s silence to mark the death of HALC chief executive Steven Lugg.

Chandler’s Ford won the 2018 HALC Village of the Year award.

The runner-up was Four Marks and third place went to Swanmore.

Liss Parish Council vice-chairman Keith Budden said: “The whole event all went very well and everybody enjoyed it.

“The people who went on the tour around the village all enjoyed it.

“Congratulations to Chandler’s Ford on winning the HALC Village of the Year award.

“Fuller’s made a donation of beer and wine, as well as donating some prizes.

“The Triangle organised all the catering and did a great job, and everything went well.”
