A LISS woman is having her hair shaved off to raise money for a children’s cancer charity.
Sandra Gard will brave the chop at Liss Village Hall tomorrow (Saturday).
The cause she is raising money for is the Piam Brown Ward, which is part of the Southampton Hospital Charity. They care for children there from a day old to 16 years of age and treat all types of cancer, of which leukaemia is the most common.
Lorraine, who will be shaving Sandra’s hair, was herself treated at the Piam Brown Ward when she was only ten years old.

Plans submitted for 30 new homes in Liss - but where's the affordable housing?Sandra said: “Lorraine was my hairdresser and I’ve been looking to get my hair shaved off for charity.
“I saw Jessie J get her hair shaved off and as I’m not fit enough for a marathon I thought I would do it, and I started organising it all before Christmas.
“I’ve got lots of other things going on to take up my concentration and keep my mind off it, but I have got some bandanas.”
As well as the main event of the head shave taking place at 3.30pm, there will be a raffle, tombola, children’s Jiggy Wrigglers session, children’s face painting, children’s lucky dip, guess the name of the teddy, guess how many sweets are in the jar and guess the weight of the cake and teas.
Tea, coffee and cake will also be on sale, and the event will start at 1.30pm.
Everyone is welcome to go along on the day and help raise money.
“The more people who come along the merrier,” said Sandra.
“All the stalls will have stuff on sale and hopefully we can raise lots of money.”
Sandra is hoping to make £1,000.
