Petersfield Town Council has rejected an offer to take over a “useless” bit of land at the heart of a future estate for £1.
But they have told Thakeham Homes they can look after a future bus stop on The Causeway as part of an approved bid for 54 homes.
The developer is creating a new habit for plants and wildlife between Otter Walk and The Causeway with oak trees, shrubs and hibernacula being planted.
But the site, which includes nine protected trees, will need 30 years of managing so they asked PTC if they would be interested in taking it on.
Councillors rejected the idea, as Cllr Lesley Farrow recalled the firm calling the offered plot “useless” in a previous presentation.
