THE CHARITY Walk for Peace has chosen its proposed beneficiaries for the 2019 walk in Petersfield.
Run in partnership by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association (AMEA UK) and East Hampshire District Council, this year’s event takes place on Saturday, May 4, and will raise money for 16 local charities.
Last year 300 walkers (pictured) took to the streets of Petersfield, raising more than £10,600 for local charities, and this year it is hoped even more walkers will take part, with all the funds collected donated to the charities from towns such as Petersfield, Liss, Kingsley, Cowplain and Alton.
The walk promotes the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community’s message of ‘Love For All – Hatred For None’, a message with the sole objective of serving humanity.
Regional co-ordinator for the walk Luqman Chaudhry said: “The objectives of AMEA UK are to relieve the suffering of the poor and to promote peace, understanding and goodwill amongst people of all walks of life.
“We strive to help, serve and support local communities through our Community Support Initiatives, and the Charity Walk for Peace is one such initiative that allows for this. All organisers are unpaid volunteers and there are no administrative costs, so every penny raised goes to charity.”
