A HANDS-ON show for those with young children is a colourful addition to the line-up at The Spring in Havant.
The Boy Who Bit Picasso, for those aged four and up, introduces one of the 20th century’s most iconic artists through the eyes of a young lad.
Presented by Untied Artists on Saturday, January 30, at 11.30am and 2.30pm, it tells the tale of Tony who has the most extraordinary friend – Picasso!
With storytelling, music and the chance to make some fun, crazy art, this production inspired by Antony Penrose’s book of the same name, is suitable for all, including those with visual or hearing impairments.
There is captioning offered to smartphones and other devises.
Play clothes are advised for little audience members as it can get messy.
The show, originally co-produced with Oxford Playhouse, is 70 minutes long with no interval.
Comedian Stewart Lee took his own children along and came out praising the show.
“The childlike joy of Picasso’s paintings is brilliantly conveyed and kids - like mine - come out learning that art is fun.”
And The Guardian said it “conveys the spirit of the artist - a sweet little tale.”
Tickets are £8, and £28 for a family of four.
