HISTORY was made in Froxfield when Mass was taken at the site of a former church in the village for the first time since the Reformation took place in the 16th century.
Around 40 Catholic and Anglican parishioners gathered for the special service at St Peter’s Church on Froxfield Green last month.
This was the first time Mass had been said on the site of the original 12th century church since the 1500s, and the service was led by Petersfield parish priest Father Peter Hollins.
Kate Sleet said:?“We had the warmest of welcomes from St Peter’s. The church bell was even rung during the consecration alongside the usual handbell we use at Mass.”
A?reception was held afterwards at Ventham’s Farm.
Further Summer Vigil Masses are due to be held at the following Anglican churches at 6pm – All Saints Church at East Meon on August 13 and St Peter’s at Colemore on August 20.
