There could be disruption on a key East Hampshire road this morning as a major piece of equipment is being delivered to the Havant Thicket reservoir site.

Portsmouth Water will make the delivery of the 95-tonne long-reach excavator outside of peak hours alongside escort vehicles for safety.

The vehicle, which weighs the same as seven double decker buses, and its convoy will leave the A3(M) at Junction 2 Horndean before travelling south along the B2149 Manor Lodge Road towards Rowlands Castle.

It will then travel down the reservoir’s dedicated access road but there could be some disruption as it makes the turn off the B2149 into the woodland.

No succinct timings have been given but Portsmouth Water say they will do everything they can to keep possible disruption to a minimum.
