DEAN Lanzante has appealed to councillors to help him find a third premises so he can open a specialist repair centre for bespoke McLaren cars.

Top-end McLarens can cost up to £2m.

He already has a showroom and workshop in London Road in Sheet – and he told councillors he has intellectual property rights status of £80m.

These give the holder an exclusive right over the use of their creation for a certain period – in this case Mr Lanzante and his car innovations.

He is also preparing to move into a ‘designer’ showroom on the new Buckmore Park to sell high-end bespoke cars, such as top-of-the-range Porsches.

The £5.5m build by Amiri Construction will house cars worth twice the build cost.

Now Dean is aiming to become one of just 11 McLaren Ultimate UK service and repair centres, where cars like the McLaren P1 – which can sell for a £1m plus – will be fine tuned.

He told Petersfield Town Development Committee on May 7 that he had looked at Trademark House on Ramshill, the former Kings Arms youth centre, and the site of the long-demolished Whitmans in Frenchmans Road, but they were unavailable.

Dean said: “McLaren Petersfield will be one of only 98 service centres globally, alongside McLaren Beverley Hills and McLaren Monaco.”

He added Lanzante employed talented local staff, and was involved in a training scheme at a local college, and would welcome help to find a suitable premises.

Members said the proposed dealership would be welcome, and would attract visitors and business to Petersfield.
