A café owner has poured herself a cup of ambition after moving her business onto a revived shopping street in Petersfield town centre.
Meg’s has a new home as the popular eatery has moved from the corner of Bakery Lane and Central Parade to Chapel Street.
Staff at the café – named after owner Meg Wisdom – found themselves serving up a treat to shoppers just minutes after the doors opened on Saturday (August 9).
But that’s just a taste of things to come with a modern menu, courtyard, bright décor and ambitious plans for the future all on the menu.

“Our tenancy was coming to an end so I started looking for a bigger shop,” said Meg, who started trading four years ago.
“We looked at some other units around town but this one really stood out and I saw its potential. I love the fact it’s got a courtyard as well.
“I’m really excited to be here and I’m just trying to bring something a bit different.
“I think our menu is quite modern and fresh, and I’m trying to trying to aim at quite a diverse audience. We’re looking to do things like bottomless brunches, too.”

Chapel Street has seen a resurgence in recent months with Meg’s joining the likes of Snappy Snaps, One Tree Books and The Escapist on the shopping street.
And while the Lavant Street fire prompted the former two to relocate to new premises, the upturn is welcome given a handful of units had been vacant for some time.
Meg added: “I think since the fire things have opened up, like Snappy Snaps moving in down the road.
“As sad as it was for Lavant Street, it’s given a new lease of life to this road and we’re happy to be part of it.”
