MEON Valley MP Flick Drummond is urging local people to consider a job with Royal Mail after visiting a local delivery office to thank staff for their work.

Flick met manager Chris Aldred and some of the 126 staff at the office in Waterberry Drive, Waterlooville.

It covers 85 delivery routes, including in Denmead, Horndean and Clanfield, and has been busier than ever delivering online shopping, Christmas presents, and lateral flow Covid tests.

And there are ten permanent vacancies at Waterlooville, with apprenticeships not being taken up.

Flick said: "During these challenging months, posties have been a vital link for people isolating, or needing provisions and contact with the outside world.

"It is disappointing Royal Mail is struggling to recruit and if anyone young or old is looking for a good career, I urge them to consider Royal Mail."
