GENEROUS supermarket shoppers in Petersfield helped ensure food banks for the needy people are kept topped up this Christmas.

They donated Christmas puddings and mince pies as well as the usual tinned goods, pasta and more in the latest Neighbourhood Food Collection appeal at Tesco in The Causeway, which is held several times a year. Petersfield Mayor Lesley Farrow opened the collection, and 30 crates were collected over three days, to be distributed to food banks. Tesco works on the appeals with The Trussell Trust and FareShare, charities working to eliminate hunger in the UK.
