IT WAS all delays and congestion on the A3 with a succession of breakdowns and crashes along its length during the rush hour this morning (January 15).

Firstly, the A3 Hindhead tunnel northbound was closed following a serious collision.

It is believed four cars were involved in the crash, at around 6.50am, between A333 Portsmouth Road/Hazel Grove and Old Portsmouth Road, Thursley.

Police closed the northbound tunnel and traffic is queuing.

Then in swift succession a car broke down on the A3(M) near junctions one and two, causing delays.

This was followed at around 8.30am by a crash near the Buriton junction on the northbound carriageway caused delays of about 30 minutes.

Highways England said it hoped traffic would be moving freely again by 11am.

Then at about 9.30am there were reports of a crash at the Ham Barn Roundabout, which again caused delays.
