A TOTAL of 215 people was arrested in Hampshire for drink and/or drug-driving during a campaign over Christmas, say police.
The campaign featured a video that reinforced the message that drink-driving can have fatal consequences.
The number of arrests was up 20 on last year.
The number of people breath tested across Hampshire was 7,606. (6,918 in 2014).
Chief Inspector Henry Parsons said: “We’ve seen a rise in the number of drink or drug-driving arrests. New legislation and equipment have made detecting drug drivers much easier and this resulted in the extra arrests.” To report someone who drinks or takes drugs, and drives call police on 101, in an emergency dial 999, or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
