Motorists using the A3 this morning faced rush hour delays after one lane was closed at Butser Hill.

Queues on the northbound carriageway started to stretch back as far as Horndean and Waterlooville and delays of up to half an hour developed due to the incident.

A VW Polo car had come off the road near the junction for Queen Elizabeth Country Park.

Police were in attendance and the outside lane was cordoned off while officers were waiting for a recovery vehicle to remove the car.
