CATHOLIC parishioners challenged Meon Valley MP Flick Drummond on a range of issues at a virtual meeting.
The meeting was part of a new campaign – dubbed Parliament in Your Parish – run by overseas development charity Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (CAFOD).
Hampshire parishioner Maureen Thompson started a Parliament in your Parish in her community and gathered a group of 14 parishioners from surrounding areas to meet over Zoom with Ms Drummond to discuss tackling issues on climate change, unjust foreign debts and a fair global Covid-19 vaccine roll-out.
Maureen said: “I had positive feedback from everyone who attended. They had learned a lot and are grateful to Flick for giving her time and explaining to us much of the background work she is involved in.”
Ms Drummond said: “The Parliament in your Parish online meeting was a thought-provoking hour. I have taken everyone’s views into account and I am looking forward to working with CAFOD over the next few years to address environmental issues and debt relief, both of which we are working on in government.
“I am very grateful for all the work CAFOD are doing to make the world a better place.”
