A TERRIFYING ordeal in waist-deep freezing mud ended in the dramatic rescue of an 11-year-old girl.
Amy Tidy was pulled from a "sinkhole" by fire officers last Friday afternoon (January 23), after the Petersfield schoolgirl had gone out to feed horses in fields behind Sussex Road and The Causeway.
Her mother Kelly said: "She took what she thought was a shortcut near the footbridge.
She told me it looked just like frozen grass but as soon as she walked on it she started sinking into the mud."
Her sister Esther and friend Charlotte went looking for her....
