With talented musicians scattered throughout a number of small village schools (East Meon, West Meon, Buriton, Steep, Sheet and Langrish) and recognising the benefits of learning to play and enjoying music, East Meon Primary School headteacher Karlaine Gilbert decided it would be a great opportunity if all the children could come together to create a small ensemble who would be able to practise and perform together.
With the help of funding from The Friends of Music in Winchester and the Michael Hurd Memorial Fund, more than 40 children attended a number of rehearsals led by the team at Hampshire Music Service.
After lots of hard work and enthusiasm the busy summer term ended with a fantastic cluster music concert held at the Lupton Hall within the grounds of Bedales School.
Family and friends were invited to attend and the children entertained the audience with a number of pieces played by the whole ensemble as well as some solo performances.
