The unit has been empty for four years having previously been occupied by The Carphone Warehouse.
A planning application to install new signage has been submitted to the South Downs National Park Authority with shopfitting work currently taking place.
Planners have also received an outline application to convert the upper floors of a nearby empty property into two flats containing one and two bedrooms, respectively.
The change of use application for the first and second floors of 4-5 High Street is outline, and only seeks to establish the principle of development.
The ground floor unit, which has been empty since Constads Jewellers closed in 2022, will be retained for retail use.
