THE NEW season at Petersfield open air swimming pool is to be launched at an open evening.

At the event in Petersfield Community Centre in Love Lane, there will also be the chance to meet the pool’s new manager, Deborah Mitchell.

She said: “I am really looking forward to joining such a strong team and working at this hidden gem, which holds such a special place in the hearts of Petersfield residents.”

New opening hours will also be revealed, that will see the 25-metre long pool open from 7.30am to 8.30pm daily, as well as all the behind the scenes work that has taken place over the winter to improve the facility, behind the Festival Hall.

Season tickets have also been reduced in price, and will be on sale at the event on Friday, March 18, starting at 7.30pm. Pool goers will also be invited to join the new Gold Membership Club.

During the evening, Linda Knutsen, will chair the annual general meeting of the trustees, which should see her continue as chairman of the 11-strong charitable trust which runs the pool for another year.

The evening will include a cheese and wine reception, and the chance to meet and chat with the trustees and new manager.
