A PLANNING application which aimed to replace the Bluebell Inn with housing has been withdrawn, although a new application is expected to be submitted.

The application had been for three four-bedroom detached houses with detached garages following the demolition of the public house.

Liss Parish Council had objected to the application due to concerns that it represented "an overdevelopment of an important site in the village," and was a "cramped solution that is insensitive to the context of its setting in West Liss, which is the most historic part of Liss."

Liss Parish Council chairman Keith Budden said: "It's a landmark site and we're happy that this particular application has been withdrawn....
