SCOUTING groups around Petersfield are growing so fast there is a desperate need for more volunteers.

More than 530 young people are members of Petersfield District Scouts.

The district stretches from West Meon to Petersfield, and up to Liphook, including Liss and Sheet.

District Commissioner Mark Knowles said: “The group is experiencing significant growth and we are desperate to get some new blood on board, and would be delighted to welcome new volunteers.

“The rewards are seeing young people grow and enjoy new opportunities.”

Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts meet once a week for about an hour-and-a-half, and also enjoy regular camps, canoeing, archery and night and day hikes.

It is hoped to attract leaders and assistant leaders at all levels, and also fill some behind the scenes admin roles.
