LISS Archaeological Group is returning to Colemore for its annual autumn dig.
The dig started on Friday, September 16, and finishes on Monday, October 17.
Work at the site will be from 9am to 4.30pm each day and beginners to experts are all welcome to take part.
Non-members can visit the site for free, but non-members will need to pay a fee to take part in the dig.
Liss Archaeological Group publicity officer Alan Horgan said: “This autumn will be led by the findings we established in the spring dig – putting the jigsaw together on a grand scale. Everyone is welcome to come and will be made to feel welcome.”
The archaeological director of the site will be Juliet Smith.
Before returning to Colemore, Liss Archaeological Group members had a stand at the Fernhurst Furnace weekend.
Alan said: “We had Juliet Smith, Arthur Mills, Chris Wilkins and Jane Webster on the stand who dealt with visitors – small and large.
“The children had a chance to dig for 50p and find artefacts with numbers. And numbers mean prizes.
“The adults enjoyed the displays and provide difficult questions for us on the stand.
“Saturday was literally a wash out and Sunday went with a bang – the bangs were coming from the Civil War re-enactment group.
“I gather that some visitors were keen to visit the Colemore Dig. Some may even join and take an active part in the exciting exploration at the site.”
