Anyone who would like to nominate a candidate for the annual award needs to do so in writing by Monday, February 19.
Liss Parish Council is then meeting at 7.30pm on February 19.
Liss Parish Council vice-chairman Keith Budden said:?“We will welcome nominations for any individual who is living in Liss, working in Liss or involved with a community group in Liss.
“It could be that they help out a voluntary group or they are a very good neighbour.
“The more nominations we get the more choice we’ll have, and we may also have a prize for a runner-up.
“We will consider each nomination on its merits.
“Having the most nominations doesn’t mean that person will win, as long as they have one nomination they have a chance.”
Once the nominations are in, councillors will then decide on a winner. Although picking a winner hasn’t always gone to plan.
Cllr Budden said: “We always contact the winner first to check, and we did have one gentleman who decided they did not want the award.”
The 2018 Liss Villager of the Year will be presented with the trophy, which they can keep for the year, at Liss Parish Council’s annual parish meeting on Wednesday, March 21.
This award is made in recognition of an individual’s contribution to the community of Liss of an extended or an important voluntary nature.
This may be service to a single organisation, or to several groups.
Nominations need to be sent in writing to the parish clerk, or they can be e-mailed to: clerk-smith@lissparish council.gov.uk
