A REPORT in the Petersfield edition of the Post (April 25) drew the attention of Mike Heather, who lives in Wiltshire and has information about RAF personnel who died on January 3, 1945, in Singapore.
He said: “Ernest Finn, of Petersfield, was the only RAF POW from Changi to die on this day, and he is buried at Kranji Cemetery.
“Twelve further RAF men are recorded as having died this day and are remembered at the Singapore Cemetery, but none were in Changi, and none of them have graves at Kranji. All were in a Liberator bomber shot down in Burma.
“This was flight KH214, from 215 Squadron, known as ‘Brodie’s Crew’ after the flight lieutenant, and consisted of five RAF, six Canadian RAF, and a Burmese.”
